Change & Death

No matter how much you see and hear, it is only the gentle whisper of God that changes you. However, you can only hear that whisper when you stop seeing and hearing, because that whisper comes from God, not you. No matter how much you do, it is only the soft touch of God that changes you. However, you can only feel that touch when you stop doing your work, because that touch comes from God, not you. No matter how many torches you hold, it is only the light of God’s truth that changes you. However, that light can only shine inside you when your torches go out, because that light comes from God, not you. In this way, God’s gentle whisper, soft touch, and light of truth are only in your change. However, what else can truly change you except dying and then living again? This is why your salvation is in the death of the Cross and the life of the Resurrection.
